Woodbridge High Triumphs Again: Secures County Championship Title in Academic Decathlon

Woodbridge High School's Academic Decathlon Team won the county championship for the seventh time in eight years, scoring 44,488.6 points. They advance to the state competition in Santa Clara from March 21-24, along with the second-place University High School team, which also qualified for the state level and won the Super Quiz event for the first time.

Jasmine Chen Leads Anteaters to Victory in Final Round of the Utah Golf Tech Invitational

At the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational in St. George, sophomore Jasmine Chen climbed the leaderboard to sixth place with a score of 149 after shooting a one-under 71 on the second day. Freshman Alyson Sor is tied for 10th with a score of 152, and both have six birdies, ranking fifth in birdies among participants. Senior Megan Yang improved to tie for 17th with a score of 155, while junior Charlotte Ryoo and sophomore Kiana Briggs are tied for 25th and 31st, respectively. The Anteaters team is fourth overall with a score of 610. The final round starts at 9:00 a.m. PT tomorrow.
Anteaters Baseball Trio Dominates Preseason All-Big West Team Selections

Three Anteaters were named to the Preseason All-Big West Team, with the team predicted to finish second in the conference, earning two first-place votes. Caden Kendle, last year's co-Big West Field Player of the Year and a 10th-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals, returns for his senior year with top recognitions and impressive stats, including a .335 average and leading the conference in outfield assists. Freshman sensation Anthony Martinez earned All-American and Big West Freshman Field Player of the Year with a .394 average, 11 home runs, and 60 RBIs. Dub Gleed, despite being overlooked for awards, hit .300 and will move back to third base for the upcoming season after playing shortstop, aiming to build on his solid performance.

Irvine Valley Women's Basketball Blaze Past Golden West in 81-68 Win

The Irvine Valley women's basketball team defeated Golden West 81-68 in an away game, maintaining their second place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 17-7 overall record and 8-2 in the conference. Christen Ziska starred with 25 points, leading four players in double figures. The team showcased a strong start and efficient shooting, hitting 51% from the field. Golden West's top scorers were Ty Adams and Princess McCauley with 21 points each. Irvine Valley's next game is at home against Fullerton, featuring a Coaches vs. Cancer event.

Irvine Man Arrested After Wrong-Way Chase Ends with DUI Charges

On Friday morning, an officer noticed a car driving the wrong way in Irvine and attempted to stop it, but the driver continued. The chase ended in a Foothill Ranch neighborhood where the driver, identified as Christopher Mark Ritchie, 58, from Irvine, was arrested with an open beer and empty cans in the car. He faces charges including DUI, evading an officer, and driving on a suspended license.
