Orange County DA Monitors UCI Protest, Vows to Address Criminal Activity
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer has affirmed that his office is collaborating with law enforcement to monitor protests, including the one at UC Irvine. While he supports the constitutional right to peaceful assembly, he emphasizes that any criminal activity, such as violence or vandalism, will not be tolerated. Evidence of such activity, including failure to obey lawful orders, will be thoroughly investigated to determine if a crime occurred.

Sunshine in Your Diet: The Power of Vitamin D
Maintaining a balanced diet is crucial for your body's nutrition and daily functions. Proper nutrition can reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and positively impact mental health. Today’s focus is on vitamin D, a vital nutrient and hormone. Known as the sunshine vitamin, it supports bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. Vitamin D can be sourced from sunlight, foods like fatty fish, beef liver, and fortified products, or supplements. Adults generally need 600 IU daily, increasing to 800 IU for those over 70.

How to Prevent Mosquito Breeding in Your Yard: Tips from IRWD and OC Vector Control
Are mosquitoes bothering you at home? It could indicate an irrigation leak or overwatering, as even tiny puddles can breed pests. The Aedes "ankle biter" mosquito can breed in just a teaspoon of water. In collaboration with @ocvectorcontrol, we're reminding residents that mosquito control is everyone's responsibility. Here's how you can help: eliminate breeding sources (ocvector.org), learn proper watering schedules (IRWD.com/wateringguide), and apply for IRWD’s Sprinkler Repair Program (IRWD.com/sprinklerrepair). This info is from Pipelines, IRWD’s monthly newsletter. View the current issue at IRWD.com/pipelines.
