AC Green is a former professional basketball player who gained prominence during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. Known for his remarkable durability and consistency, Green earned the nickname "Iron Man" for holding the NBA record for most consecutive games played. Beyond his on-court achievements, Green is admired for his philanthropic work and community involvement, particularly in promoting youth development and education programs. His dedication to social causes has made him a respected figure both within and beyond the realm of basketball.
Mayor Farrah N. Khan is excited to meet AC Green (LA Lakers) to explore his impactful programs. She aims to integrate some of these initiatives into Irvine's youth programming in partnership with Pastor Jason Aguilar.

Trail and Field Closures in Irvine Post-Storms: What You Need to Know

Most bike trails are open, except for the San Diego Creek Trail at University Trail (Harvard to Campus).
Bommer Canyon, Shady Canyon, and Quail Hill trails got nearly 5 inches of rain, about half their yearly total. They're closed for repairs and drying.

Reyna Johnson Shines as Sgt. Pepperoni's Anteater of the Week

Reyna Johnson named Anteater of the Week for her standout performance at the Riverfront Invitational, breaking her own long jump record with a leap of 5.93 meters. She also achieved a personal-best time in the 60m hurdle final, ranking fifth in program history. Next up, she'll compete at the MPSF Championships on Feb. 25-26.
Balanced Attack Leads UC Irvine Women's Basketball to Commanding Win Against UC Santa Barbara

UC Irvine women's basketball dominated UC Santa Barbara, holding them to a season-low 38 points with strong defense. UCI took second place in the Big West standings with a 60-38 win. Shirel Nahum, Nevaeh Parkinson, and Moulayna Johnson Sidi Baba led the team with 10 points each. UCI's defense and balanced scoring secured the victory.
Impressive Road Victory: UC Irvine Shoots Past UC Santa Barbara for 11th Big West Victory

UC Irvine beat UC Santa Barbara 76-61, improving to 11-1 in the Big West. They had a strong offensive game, shooting 53.2% from the field. UCI capitalized on turnovers and scored well in the paint. Pierre Crockrell II led with 14 points and 7 assists, followed by Devin Tillis with 13 points, and Derin Saran and Andre Henry with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Irvine Valley's women's basketball team defeated Santa Ana 70-57 in an Orange Empire Conference game. They pulled away with an 8-0 run in the second period and dominated the closing stages despite a late push from Santa Ana. The win improves Irvine Valley's record to 16-7 (7-2 conference), while Santa Ana drops to 13-10 (3-6 conference). Top performers for Irvine Valley include Makena Tomlinson, Sarah Bonsangue, and Emily Freeman. The next game is against Golden West on Friday.
