The Concordia Music Department and musicians performed two impressive Christmas Concerts themed around a journey to Bethlehem at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. All the hard work that contributed to these memorable events is greatly appreciated! Thank you to everyone involved!

Attend a two-hour workshop on making quick, healthy one-pot meals at the University of California, Irvine on December 20th at 5pm. UCI Health Celebrates Muriel Moyoโs Prestigious Nursing Leadership Recognition for 2024

Muriel Moyo, a nurse manager at UCI Health's ICU, has been recognized as one of the American Organization for Nursing Leadershipโs 2024 Young Professional Voices. Moyo, who began her career at UCI Health as a nursing assistant in 2012, has been commended for her leadership in nursing and her commitment to excellence in nursing practice. Under her management, the medical ICU won a DAISY Team Award for its work during the COVID-19 pandemic. UCI Health, known for its nursing excellence, has received multiple awards and recognitions, including the Magnetยฎ designation and Beacon Awards for Excellence in various units. UCI Health is the clinical arm of the University of California, Irvine, offering a wide range of medical services in Orange County.

Join 9-Mile Hike from Bommer Canyon to Butterfly Valley Hike

Join a 9-mile hike through Bommer and Shady Canyons in Irvine Open Space Preserve on December 21, 2023, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. The hike starts at Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp, includes steep ascents, descents, and a visit to Butterfly Valley with mature Coastal Sage Scrub. It's a level-4 difficulty activity with 1500 feet elevation gain, requiring participants to be self-sufficient with water, snacks, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, first aid, etc. Pre-registration is mandatory, and a liability waiver must be signed.

Underdog UCI Menโs Basketball Faces Off Against Powerhouse New Mexico

UC Irvine is gearing up for a challenging basketball game against RV New Mexico on December 20th, marking their fourth matchup against a Mountain West opponent this season. New Mexico enters the game with an impressive 10-1 record, including a nine-game winning streak and a strong performance in non-conference play. Key players for New Mexico include the injured Jamal Mashburn Jr. and standout players Donovan Dent and Jaelen House. UC Irvine, known for its dynamic offense and strong bench contributions, recently showcased their prowess in a 121-78 victory over South Dakota. The team excels in scoring, assists, and field goal percentage, with significant contributions from players like Pierre Crockrell II, Justin Hohn, and Devin Tillis. Freshman Carter Welling and Derin Saran have also emerged as key contributors, helping UC Irvine achieve a top position in the NET ranking among Big West teams.
UC Irvine Women's Tennis Set for Action-Packed 2024 Tennis Season

UC Irvine women's tennis team's 2024 season starts on Jan. 18 at USC, includes a mix of home and away games against various universities, and features both conference and non-conference matches. Key games include home openers against UC Riverside and Santa Clara in February, a three-game road trip in northern California, and matches against New Mexico and Cal State LA. The team will also travel to the Midwest and New Jersey for several games. The regular season concludes with matches against Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton in April, followed by the Big West Championships in San Diego from April 24-27.

Irvine PD Cracks Down on Retail Theft: Two Men Caught with Stolen Goods and Narcotics

Two men, Wesley Nicholas Cook and George Hernandez, were arrested for stealing over $600 worth of Nicorette gum and other items from a Target store in Irvine. They also shoved an employee while fleeing. Police found additional stolen goods and narcotics in their car, with total theft estimated at $981. Irvine PD warns against holiday season theft, highlighting increased patrols in retail areas.
