Police Disperse Pro-Palestinian Protesters at UC Irvine; Multiple Arrests Made
Protests at UC Irvine escalated on Wednesday when demonstrators surrounded a lecture hall, prompting police intervention. The administration had advised students to avoid the Physical Sciences Quad, where the pro-Palestinian encampment was located. Law enforcement, including multiple agencies, declared the protest an unlawful assembly, leading to numerous arrests. Protesters condemned the police actions, while officials cited safety and property concerns. UC Irvine canceled all in-person classes, moving to online instruction until further notice.
Crime Survivors Nonprofit: Immediate Need for Sensitive, Understanding Therapists
Crime Survivors is seeking compassionate, trauma-informed therapists for a violent crime survivor dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, paranoia, and fear of re-victimization. Previous therapists lacked understanding, telling her to "let it go." They are looking for a non-judgmental therapist who accepts Medical, CalVCB, or a sliding scale. Contact: [email protected].

Are Sunscreen Sticks as Effective as Lotions? UCI Dermatologist Weighs In
Sunscreen solid sticks are convenient and mess-free, making them ideal for on-the-go use without worrying about spills. They offer the same protective ingredients as lotions but may be less effective due to difficulty in applying the recommended amount. Dermatologist Natasha A. Mesinkovska, MD, PhD from UCI Health, notes that itโs challenging to measure and apply the necessary 2 milligrams per square centimeter with a stick, often resulting in insufficient coverage. While they are practical for reapplication and avoiding mess, they might not provide the same level of protection as liquid sunscreens, which are easier to apply adequately. Despite this, their convenience can encourage consistent use, which is crucial for effective sun protection.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at an industrial park near Chrysler and Bendix. Despite first responders' efforts, the driver, whose identity hasn't been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The attack appeared targeted, not a robbery.
