Bristol Farms Newfound Market at Irvine Spectrum to Close its Doors Next Month

Bristol Farms Newfound Market at Irvine Spectrum Center is closing next month. Opened in March 2022, this 34,000-square-foot store was a new concept for Bristol Farms and the largest new tenant in the shopping center since 2019. It featured a food hall, Italian restaurant, and upscale groceries. The closure, as stated by Good Food Holdings CEO Neil Stern, is due to its performance as a grocery store in a shopping center, not the concept itself. Irvine Spectrum has 169 stores and is the sixth largest shopping center in Orange County, with $601 million in sales as of June 2023.

How California's Tax Burden on the Rich Could Backfire โ Upcoming Bill Sparks Controversy
![]() | ![]() |
California's general fund largely depends on income tax and capital gains, with the top 1% of earners contributing over half of this revenue. Despite this, the state is experiencing an exodus of wealthy residents due to high taxes. In response, the legislature is considering further tax increases, with a bill set for discussion on January 10th. The article urges readers to contact their representatives to oppose these additional tax hikes.

Enroll in the Star Skate Comprehensive Skating Program at the Rinks
![]() | ![]() |
Star Skate at the Rinks is a 4-level skating program combining a 30-minute on-skates class with a 30-minute off-skates conditioning session. It's designed for learning foundational skills useful in artistic skating, hockey, and general recreation. Adapted from the USA Roller Sports Star Program, it enables efficient skill progression. Skaters with prior experience should get a skills assessment to ensure proper class placement. Personal skates are recommended due to limited rental options. The next session starts on Wednesday, 1/24.

Transform Your Life in 2024: UCI's Guide to Mindfulness, Fitness, and Nutritious Home Cooking

For a healthier 2024, Theresa Nutt from UCI's Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute recommends three key tips:
1) Prioritize self-care and well-being
2) Practice daily mindfulness, such as meditation, yoga, or tai chi, to reduce stress and improve mental health
3) Increase physical activity, aiming for at least 30 minutes of exercise five days a week, which can be as simple as walking or stretching regularly
4) Cook more meals at home to control nutritional content, reduce intake of sodium, sugars, and fats, and save money
The Institute offers various programs and classes, including mindfulness workshops, exercise guidance, nutritional education, and cooking classes, to support these health goals.
Protect Against Rocky Mountain Fever: Children at Higher Risk from Rare Tick-Borne Illness

Rocky Mountain spotted fever, a rare but potentially fatal tick-borne disease, poses a significant risk to children, as highlighted by UCI Health's infectious diseases specialist Dr. Shruti Gohil. The CDC has issued a warning following five reported cases, three of which were fatal. Children under 10 are particularly vulnerable. Symptoms include fever, headache, rash, and muscle pain. Dr. Gohil, an expert in infectious diseases, emphasizes the importance of awareness for early detection and treatment.
