Orange County's Second Harvest Marks 40 Years of Service with a Special Documentary

While they don't celebrate the necessity of a Food Bank, Second Harvest honors its 40-year impact in Orange County, acknowledging the individuals and milestones that have been pivotal in their journey. In commemoration of this significant anniversary, Second Harvest has released a mini documentary titled 'Nourishing Hope: The Story of a Food Bank', which highlights their journey and contributions. This marks a moment of reflection and celebration of the organization's commitment to food security and community support in Orange County.

Small Business Owners Hit Hard by Insurance Industry Changes, Legislative Debate Heats Up

Legislative discussions are focusing on insurance costs and consumer burden. Key points missing in the debate include:
Small business owners, like insurance salespeople, suffer when they can't issue new policies due to companies leaving the state, not just large firms.
Reduced competition from fewer insurers leads to higher prices for less coverage, e.g., home insurance costs may rise 12-20% but coverage decreases by 60%. The real cost of these changes is higher than reported. The situation, as explained by CalMatters economy reporter Levi Sumagaysay, stems from inflation and state regulations, which, while saving consumers billions, are considered burdensome by insurers.
