The team drove the dog to the hospital to meet the friend, and EZ posed for a picture with firefighter Rowlands.
How Tech Week 2024 is Propelling Irvine's Startups to New Heights
Irvine, home to over 17,000 companies including a third of all Fortune 500 firms and more than 1,500 startups, highlighted its innovation and entrepreneurial spirit during Tech Week 2024. The event, organized by Irvine Tech Hub Executive Director Melinda Pang, aimed to build connections and showcase local success stories. Notable speakers included inventors of innovative products like a skateboard adapter, a turmeric drink, and an AI accounts-receivable system. Patrick Dumas, CEO of Waterborne Skateboards, shared how Irvine's supportive ecosystem helped him succeed. This thriving environment has contributed to Irvine having the region's highest jobs-to-workers ratio and the fastest job growth in professional services, solidifying its status as a key player in diverse industries.

Reasons Why Protein is Crucial for Women's Health and Wellness
Protein is vital for women's health throughout their lives, from early adulthood to post-menopause. It's essential for building and maintaining muscles, bones, skin, and hormones. Women typically need more protein than commonly recommended, especially during pregnancy and after menopause, to prevent bone loss and support metabolic health. Protein helps with satiety and blood sugar balance, reducing the risk of diabetes. Both animal and plant-based proteins are important, with animal proteins providing essential amino acids and plant proteins offering fiber and vitamins. Women should aim for a balanced diet rich in various protein sources and consult a nutritionist for personalized advice. Contact the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute for more information at 949-824-7000.
Discover May’s Spotlight Plant: The Beautiful Beach Strawberry
California Native Plant Corner: Beach strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis) is a spreading groundcover with dark green leaves that turn red in fall. It blooms with beautiful white flowers in spring and early summer, producing small, edible fruit that attracts birds. Understanding Pet Strokes: Causes, Signs, and Treatment Options
While rare, strokes in pets can occur due to cerebral bleeding from trauma, thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count), or unknown reasons.
Signs include sudden collapse, head tilt, blindness, circling/stumbling, rapidly moving pupils, disorientation, and abrupt behavioral changes.
Diagnosis involves ruling out other conditions through extensive tests like blood work, clotting analysis, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis, with MRI being the ideal diagnostic tool.
Treatment is complex and finding the underlying cause is crucial. Motor function recovery is possible, but behavioral changes may persist.
