Irvine Enforces E-Bike Ban in Open Spaces to Protect Preserve Trails and Safety

Irvine's new e-bike ordinance, effective July 2023, bans e-bikes in open spaces, including equestrian, hiking, and recreational trails, to protect natural habitats and ensure safety. New signs at trailheads and entry points enforce this rule, with the Irvine Police Department issuing citations for violations. Non-motorized mountain biking is still permitted. The ban addresses concerns about trail damage, safety risks, and wildfire hazards posed by e-bikes.
