Irvine's Winter classes offer a variety of activities in December, including educational and fun events for community engagement. Visit cityofirvine.org/play for more. Highlights include:

  • Pizzapalooza for kids aged 6-12, where they learn pizza-making with hands-on cooking techniques.

  • Experience the holiday spirit at the Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex with the 'Holidayz at the Park' lights display, open until January 7.

  • Also, Winter Sports Camps at the Great Park provide skill-building in basketball, tennis, and soccer for ages 5-17.

Irvine Schools Lead California for Seventh Year: Over 75% of Students Excel in State Tests

Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) ranked highest in California's standardized tests in Science, Math, and English for the seventh year in a row among large public school districts. Over 75% of students surpassed English standards, 70% in math, and 64% in science. Congratulations to Irvine's students and faculty!

Help Deliver Hope and Nutrition: Volunteer with Irvine's Meals on Wheels

The City of Irvine's Meals on Wheels program is an essential service delivering over 8,000 nutritious meals yearly to homebound seniors.

- Volunteer Roles: Meal packaging and delivery, Monday to Friday.

- Mission: Help senior residents maintain independence through nutritious meals.

- Driver Role at Lakeview Senior Center: Deliver hot and cold meals.

Holiday Alert: OCFA Warn Against Overloading Power Strips This Festive Season

During the holidays, remember to unplug and stay safe. Gus, in collaboration with the Orange County Fire Authority, advises against overloading power strips with holiday lights and decorations to prevent electrical fires. Woodbridge High Crushes Costa Mesa with a Commanding 88-39 Victory in Boys Basketball

Woodbridge High's boys basketball team dominated Costa Mesa with an 88-39 win, leveraging a strong defense that led to a 29-10 lead in the first quarter. Key player Jaiden Sabino scored 28 points, contributing to the team's balanced offense. Costa Mesa, with a 4-8 record, struggled despite efforts from players like Garry Slone. Woodbridge's effective strategy and team cohesion, both on and off the court, were highlighted by Coach Scoggin and senior guard JC Schindler, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and defense in their successful performance.
