OCFA Responds to Vehicle Fire on Southbound 405: Drivers Safe, Investigation Underway

Firefighters addressed a two-car collision with one vehicle on fire on the southbound 405 Freeway near Jamboree and Culver. Both drivers were evaluated; only the driver in the burning vehicle had minor injuries. The cause is under investigation by the CHP. Traffic lanes were closed for safety during the operation.

Orange County Rallies Against Human Trafficking: Vanguard University Hosts Educational Event

The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force's 2023 report reveals 36% of the 420 assisted victims were minors. They held an educational event at Vanguard University for middle schoolers and locals on preventing sexual exploitation and promoting safety. UCI Women's Water Polo Team Set to Face Tough Rivals in La Jolla's Triton Invitational

The UC Irvine Anteaters, ranked sixth, will play four games at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, facing No. 11 LMU and No. 5 Fresno State. LMU has a 6-1 record and is on a four-game winning streak, while Fresno State also stands at 6-1, having won significant matches in recent tournaments. UC Irvine has historically performed well against these teams. Irvine Valley's baseball team dominated West LA with an 11-0 victory at home. The Lasers scored 10 runs in the first four innings, moving their season record to 2-1, while West LA dropped to 1-3. Empire League Triumph: Crean Lutheran Girls Basketball Clinch Title with Decisive Win Over Cypress

Crean Lutheran High School's girls basketball team won the Empire League title with a 57-47 victory over Cypress. Junior Sydnee Norwood led the team with 26 points. This win marked the Saints' first league title since the 2021-22 season and celebrated co-head coach Bianca Ziemann's 100th victory with the program. Despite challenges like injuries and illness, the team showed resilience. Crean Lutheran led at halftime and maintained their lead, despite Cypress' efforts. The victory also sets the stage for Crean Lutheran's participation in the 2AA playoffs next week. Bianca Ziemann emphasized the team's hard work and dedication in her post-game remarks.
