Orange County Fire Authority and Irvine Police Animal Services successfully rescued a dog trapped on a fourth-floor balcony in Irvine after it got locked out with no one home. The firefighters used an aerial ladder to safely bring the dog down. The dog is now doing well and resting at home with its family.

Meet Sasha, a senior dog seeking a calm, loving home, ideal for someone who enjoys quiet companionship and afternoon naps. Although initially shy, Sasha opens up with patience and treats. Visit her at the Irvine Animal Care Center. She's part of the Seniors Helping Seniors Program, offering fee-waived adoptions for seniors 62+ adopting senior pets.

UCI's Drew Pickett Shatters Personal Record, Dominates at Weekend's Track Competition

The men's track and field team wrapped up their participation in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach. Key performances included Drew Pickett setting a personal best of 14.01 in the 110m hurdles and winning the event, with other notable finishes from Jarel Sayles and Brandon Burns in their respective events. Field events also saw strong performances, such as Anthony Victa in the triple jump and Alan Vuong in the high jump. The team is next set to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Chris Rinne Invitational.

At the Big West Championships in Las Vegas, UC Irvine is in eighth place with a score of 319. Freshman Alyson Sor is leading the team with a score of 77, tied for 19th place, featuring 11 pars and a birdie. Senior Megan Yang, scoring 80 and tied for 29th, led with two birdies, while sophomores Kiana Briggs and Jasmine Chen, and junior Charlotte Ryoo each scored 81, tying for 33rd.
