OC Lantern Festival to Feature South Coast Chinese Drum Team

The South Coast Chinese Drum Team will perform at the OC Lantern Festival this year, showcasing their unique blend of Eastern and Western music, dance, and other arts. They have previously captivated audiences with "Mulan" in 2019 and "The Monkey King" in 2023, each embodying different cultural virtues. This year, they will preview "Nezha," a new piece representing "righteousness," continuing their tradition of merging diverse artistic elements and cultural themes.

Over 250 IUSD Students Shine in Prestigious SCSBOA Honor Groups Selection

Over 250 students from IUSD, ranging from elementary to high school, were selected for the SCSBOA Honor Groups after competing with 4000+ students across Bakersfield to San Diego. IUSD students represent 51% of the elementary honor group, a significant achievement.

OC San Video Contest Now Open: High School and College Students Invited to Participate

OC San's video contest is now open to high school and college students. Create a 15-59 second video about OC San careers for a chance to win a cash prize. Entries can be individual or group efforts. UC Irvine Men's Tennis Triumphs Over San Diego State in a 4-1 Victory at Home

UC Irvine men's tennis team maintained their unbeaten home record with a 4-1 victory over San Diego State. After losing the doubles point, they made a strong comeback in singles matches, with wins from Luque Rico, Krishna, Sakagawa, and Sherif. Their overall season record is now 3-1. The team will next play in Northern California against San Francisco and Santa Clara.

UCI Women's Basketball Defeats CSUN and Cements Top Spot in Big West

UC Irvine women's basketball team secured a 67-63 win over CSUN, extending their winning streak to four and tying for first in the Big West. They led the first half but were tied at halftime. UC Irvine outscored CSUN 25-19 in the final quarter. Key players included Déja Lee with 16 points and Nevaeh Parkinson nearing a double-double. The team shot over 40% from the field but struggled with three-pointers and free throws, yet outrebounded CSUN. CSUN's Ana Carolina De Jesus scored 12 points. The game had multiple lead changes, but UC Irvine pulled ahead in the last minutes. They play Cal Poly next. Notably, this is UC Irvine's longest win streak this season and their fourth consecutive win against CSUN. Diaba Konate continues to perform well, and Nevaeh Parkinson has been averaging significant points and rebounds recently.

Irvine Valley Baseball Secures 6-4 Win in 2024 Season Kickoff

Irvine Valley baseball team won their 2024 season opener 6-4 against Long Beach City. After trailing 4-3 by the fourth inning, they scored in the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings. The team's strong pitching limited Long Beach City to five hits. Cayden Byers started as pitcher, followed by Chris Cody and Zack Marker, who earned the save. Key players included Shaun McCaghren with two doubles and Shane Stafford with a solo home run. Irvine Valley will host a rematch at Laser Field.

Irvine Valley Celebrates Former Basketball Player Kennedy Pucci, Winner of Top Scholar-Athlete

Kennedy Pucci, a former Irvine Valley women's basketball player and current Hope International University student-athlete, has been recognized for her dual achievements in sports and academics. She was named to the 2022-23 California Community College Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and honored as Irvine Valley's women's scholar athlete of the year. Pucci excelled with a 4.0 GPA and was a key player for Irvine Valley, contributing to their successes in the Orange Empire Conference and CCCAA tournaments. Beyond basketball, she is known for her community service and involvement in student advisory groups.
