Irvine Police Issue 42 Citations in Traffic Safety Operation Near Schools and Thoroughfares

Last Thursday, IPD's Traffic Bureau conducted a High Visibility Enforcement operation in the Great Park and Portola Springs areas, targeting traffic violations near schools and key roads to improve safety. Officers issued 42 citations, primarily for speeding.

UCI Health has been chosen as one of only 30 health systems nationwide to join the Age-Friendly Systemwide Spread Collaborative by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Over the next 18 months, the UCI Health SeniorHealth Center will focus on integrating evidence-based, high-quality care standards equitably across all services for older adults. This collaborative effort includes learning from peers and experts to aim for a new prestigious recognition from IHI for spreading age-friendly care throughout their system. Adoption Update: 7 Dogs and 7 Cats Begin New Lives; 4 Dogs Rescued

During the week of April 29 to May 5, a total of 14 animals found new homes through our facility, with 7 dogs (Boston, Earth, Jackie, Manzanita, Phillie, Remie, Theo) and 7 cats (Archie, Chloe, Cuke, Lila, Macy, Oreo, Seattle) being adopted. Additionally, 4 dogs (Bruiser, Champion, Chimera, Coco) were transferred to rescue organizations. For more information on adoption procedures and to check operating hour click here.

UC Irvine Baseball Set to Defend Streak Against UCLA Bruins in Crucial Matchup

The UC Irvine Anteaters, with a strong record of 34-10, are set to face the UCLA Bruins and the Long Beach State Dirtbags in upcoming games. The Anteaters will play the Bruins at home, where Danny Suarez is slated to pitch, and then travel to face the Dirtbags, with Nick Pinto, Trevor Hansen, and Brandon Luu lined up as starting pitchers. UC Irvine has performed exceptionally well this season, consistently ranking nationally and leading in several statistics like hit by pitches. As they face UCLA, they aim to extend their winning streak to a record seven games in their series history. The games against Long Beach State will continue the competitive Black & Blue Rivalry Series, where UC Irvine holds a historical edge. These matches are critical as UC Irvine seeks to maintain its top position in the Big West standings.

UC Irvine's Late Rally Secures Victory Over Cal Poly in Tense Extra-Inning Game

UC Irvine's baseball team secured a 4-3 victory over Cal Poly at Anteater Ballpark, evening the series. The game extended into extra innings, where Cal Poly initially took the lead in the 10th, thanks to Ryan Stafford's third hit and a subsequent fielding error. However, UC Irvine responded robustly in the bottom of the inning. Caden Kendle and Anthony Martinez delivered crucial hits, with Martinez's drive tying the game. Following a strategic sacrifice bunt by Dub Gleed, Will Bermudez clinched the win with a decisive hit off the left field wall. The game was marked by strong starting pitching and solid defense from both teams. This victory improves UC Irvine's record in extra-inning games to 4-1 and adds another walk-off win to their season.

Crean Lutheran Boys Swim & Dive Team Secures Back-to-Back Empire League Titles

The Crean Lutheran Boys Swim & Dive team has clinched the Empire League Championship for the second consecutive year. They had an impressive undefeated season with a 5-0 record in league matches. Their remarkable performance is celebrated with a quote from Isaiah 43:2, symbolizing their resilience and team spirit.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."
