In a dramatic turn of events, the Irvine Valley baseball team transformed a tight game into a decisive 16-9 win over Grossmont on Friday, improving their record to 7-5. The game was evenly matched at 3-3 until Irvine Valley exploded with 13 runs in the sixth inning, all scored with two outs. This offensive onslaught involved 19 batters, eight hits, and capitalized on two Grossmont errors, effectively cycling through four Grossmont pitchers. Key moments included Gavin Grutzmacher being hit by a pitch with bases loaded, leading to the initial lead change, and significant hits from players like Shane Stafford and Jackson Snitko that extended their lead.
