Woodbridge High School's Boys Water Polo Team Makes a Splash with 8-1 Record and Top Ranking in CIF Division 4 Polls
Woodbridge High School's boys water polo team has started the season strong with an 8-1 record and is currently ranked first in the CIF Division 4 polls. The team is looking to have a great year and earn their berth into playoffs. The Pacific Coast conference has a depth of talent backed by a fierce swim community, making it a tough league with half a dozen local water polo clubs. The team's goal is to get to .500 plus and prove their might at playoffs.
The team's highlights so far include their 9-8 overtime win over Division 2 Villa Park.
The team has several players who have been leading the way for Woodbridge. Caden Bolton, the center, has been dominant in holding position and forcing zones, opening up perimeter shooters. Robin Koehler has put his speed on display by burying counter attacks and earning MVP of the Tustin Memorial Tournament. Junior goalkeeper Ben Chan and freshman Eli Bolton at center defense create opportunities and force fast breaks on the offensive end. This season, the team has a bench like never before with fast, eager, and intelligent players ready for their moment to impact the game.
Woodbridge will host Costa Mesa on Tuesday, September 19 at 4 p.m. and then face Crean Lutheran on Tuesday, September 26. Their first league game is Thursday, September 28 at home vs. Sage Hill.
