Pacific Chorale’s Annual Choral Festival Returns August 16

Join Pacific Chorale for its annual Choral Festival on Sunday, August 16, at 5 p.m. at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The community concert brings together hundreds of local singers and the GRAMMY Award-winning Pacific Chorale for a performance of Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, led by conductor Robert Istad and featuring guest soloists and musicians. Pay-what-you-can tickets are available, making this community celebration accessible to all.

Support Local Families by Volunteering with Irvine's Food Box Distribution

Love Irvine is inviting volunteers to support the City of Irvine's Food Box Distribution Program, which provides free grocery boxes to community members experiencing food insecurity. Whether you can help set up, organize, or distribute food boxes, your time and support can make a meaningful difference for local families.

  • Distribute Food Boxes: Second Thursday of each month, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

  • Set Up & Organize: Last Wednesday of each month, 8:30–10:30 a.m.

  • Additional Opportunities: Extra volunteer shifts are available in August.

  • Get Involved: Register for a volunteer shift here

Tanaka Farms Hiring Seasonal Staff for 2026 Pumpkin Patch

Tanaka Farms is hiring seasonal staff for its 2026 Pumpkin Patch and will host a job fair on Friday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5380 3/4 University Drive in Irvine. Open positions include cashiers, greeters, games attendants, parking attendants, concession stand workers, admissions, and more. Pay starts at $16.90 per hour, no experience is required, and applicants must be 17 or older and authorized to work in the U.S.

Celebrate Local Authors at Irvine Public Library's Community Book Festival

Meet and support local writers at the Irvine Public Library Local Author Festival on Saturday, August 15, from 2–4 p.m. at Katie Wheeler Library. This all-ages event invites visitors to browse and purchase books while celebrating the stories created by local authors in the community.

Three Days of Korean Food, Culture and Entertainment Await at Chimac Fest

Chimac Fest is comimg to Great Park Live from Friday, Aug. 14, through Sunday, Aug. 16, celebrating Korean culture with Korean fried chicken, K-food, K-pop, K-beauty, K-health, and traditional cultural experiences. The family-friendly, three-day festival features food, entertainment, and activities for all ages, with festivities beginning at 4 p.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

New UCI Health Rehabilitation Hospital Expands Recovery Care in Irvine

UCI Health has opened the new UCI Health — Irvine Rehabilitation Hospital, a 52-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility at 2200 Morse Ave. in Irvine. The hospital provides specialized care for patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries, surgery and other serious illnesses, with features including private rooms, advanced rehabilitation technology, a brain injury unit, therapy gyms, and simulated home environments to support recovery. The facility will also serve as a research and training center for new rehabilitation therapies, with Orange County’s first dedicated inpatient cancer rehabilitation unit planned to open in the future.

After Work Fitness Hike Returns to Irvine Open Space Preserve on Aug. 24

Join the City of Irvine’s After Work Fitness Hike on Monday, August 24, from 6–7:30 p.m. at the Irvine Open Space Preserve. This guided 3.5-mile hike follows the paved Hicks Haul Road to Loma Ridge and back, offering sunset views and panoramic scenery while maintaining a fitness-focused pace.

Artists and Makers Invited to Apply for Irvine Holiday Faire

Applications are now open for vendors interested in participating in the Irvine Fine Arts Center Holiday Faire. Artists and makers are invited to apply to showcase and sell handcrafted items, unique gifts, and original creations at the annual holiday event, giving shoppers the opportunity to discover locally made products during the festive season.

Meet Apricot, Dotty and Onyx: Irvine Cats Looking for Their Forever Homes

The Irvine Animal Care Center is highlighting three of its longest-resident cats—Apricot, Dotty, and Onyx—who are looking for permanent homes. Each cat has a unique personality, from playful and affectionate to curious and shy. As part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, adoption fees are waived throughout the month for the center's longest-resident dogs, cats, and rabbits.

IVC Women's Basketball Standout Neryah Lokeni Commits to College of Saint Mary

Irvine Valley College women's basketball player Neryah Lokeni has committed to the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, to continue her basketball career. The sophomore forward helped the Lasers win the Orange Empire Conference title and finish 26-5 last season, averaging 6.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

Irvine Police Arrest Suspected DUI Driver After Community Tip

A suspected drunk driver was arrested in Irvine after a community member reported the vehicle nearly causing a crash. Irvine Police used its Drone as First Responder program to locate and track the vehicle while guiding officers on the ground, leading to the arrest of a 62-year-old Santa Ana man on suspicion of DUI.
