Rivian Secures $5 Billion VW Investment, Forecasts Job Influx in Irvine
Rivian, an Irvine-based EV company, received a $5 billion investment from Volkswagen in June. This investment is expected to boost well-paying jobs at Rivian and inspire further innovation in the EV market. Rivian, which moved its headquarters to Irvine in 2020, produces acclaimed electric adventure vehicles and delivery vans for Amazon. Despite past challenges, the VW investment positions Rivian for future success as battery costs fall and EV sales are projected to quadruple by 2030. Rivian's stock surged nearly 30% following the news. For more information, visit their restored flagship location at the South Coast Theater in Laguna Beach or their website at rivian.com.
Take Charge of Your Yard! Fight Mosquitoes and Protect Your Health
Take charge of your yard to combat mosquitoes by eliminating standing water in containers like buckets and flowerpots, and keeping pools clean.
Use mosquito repellent on clothes and exposed skin, and wear long sleeves and pants for extra protection, especially at dawn and dusk.
Protect yourself from diseases spread by mosquitoes, such as West Nile virus, by draining standing water around your home. Learn more: CDPH Mosquito Information.

During the investigation, they encountered the minivan's owner, Aaron Matthew Shindle, who advanced towards an officer with a knife, leading to an officer-involved shooting.
