From Search Results to the Exam Room: Making Sense of Online Health Advice

As more people turn to search engines and social media for health information, doctors like Dr. Hansen Bow of UCI Health say the key is open, respectful conversation. Bow encourages patients to share which online sources shaped their concerns, then helps clarify when internet information doesnโt align with symptoms, tests, or typical outcomes. By adding medical contextโespecially around viral or sensational postsโhe helps patients use online research as a starting point, not a diagnosis, leading to clearer expectations and better-informed care decisions.

Why Local Trails Close After Rainโand How to Visit Responsibly

After rain, some trails temporarily close so they can dry out safely and avoid long-term damage.
Irvine Ranch Conservancyโalong with OC Parks, the City of Irvine, and the City of Newport Beachโadvise visitors to check trail updates before heading out, follow posted closure signs, steer clear of muddy spots once trails reopen, and choose activities that match conditions (some trails may be OK for walking but not biking or horseback riding).
Giving trails time to dry now helps keep them open longer laterโand while you wait, you can still get outside with things like paved fitness hikes.
