Stay Safe on E-Vehicles: Must-Know Tips for a Safe Holiday Season

E-vehicles like e-bikes, e-scooters, and e-skateboards make wonderful holiday gifts! But whether you're planning to give one or already have one, safety should always be the top priority. The Irvine Police Department has shared some handy tips to help you and your loved ones ride responsibly and safely.

  • Students riding e-vehicles to school must register them with their school—contact your administration office for details.

  • Key safety reminders include obeying traffic laws, wearing helmets (required by law for riders under 18 and on Type 3 e-bikes), using lights and reflectors for visibility, staying alert and distraction-free, being courteous to others, and riding at safe speeds.

  • Additionally, California classifies e-bikes into three types; modifications to increase speed are unsafe and discouraged.

Irvine’s Woollett Aquatics Center to Host 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships

USA Swimming has confirmed the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California, as the host of the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. This marks the return of the prestigious quadrennial meet, last held in 2018, after the 2022 edition was canceled due to a crowded international swimming calendar. Initially expected to be hosted by Canada, the event was shifted to Southern California to support preparations for the LA28 Olympics and boost regional interest in swimming. The Woollett Aquatics Center, previously hosting the 2010 Pan Pacs and multiple USA Swimming events, has two 50-meter pools and expandable seating up to 4,000. Open water competition details will be announced later.
