Recognizing and Treating Common Ear Infection Symptoms

Ear infections often cause ear pain, fluid or discharge, swelling, fever, and hearing difficulty. At Family Care Centers in Irvine and Costa Mesa, providers offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment for both children and adults.
Diagnosis may include a physical exam and on-site lab or imaging tests. Treatment options depend on the cause and severity, including:
Antibiotics for bacterial infections
Observation (“wait and watch”) for mild cases
Pain relief and warm compress therapy to reduce discomfort
Prompt medical care is recommended if symptoms persist, worsen, or include fever, drainage, or balance issues.

Meet Mugwort: The Native Plant Strengthening Irvine’s Creekside Ecosystems

🌿 Mugwort (Artemisia douglasiana) is a fragrant native plant found along Irvine’s creeks and canyon trails, easily recognized by its silvery-green leaves and herbal scent. Its deep roots help stabilize soil and sustain riparian ecosystems — the vibrant zones where land meets water. Mugwort also supports local wildlife, providing habitat for bats, birds, caterpillars, and butterflies, helping these species thrive.
