More Than Companions: How Pets Support Health and Happiness

Pets bring comfort, companionship, and joy to everyday life, but their benefits go far beyond emotional support. Research from the American Heart Association suggests that having a pet may contribute to a longer and healthier life, especially through improved heart health and overall well-being. From offering comfort during stressful moments to encouraging healthier daily routines, pets can play an important role in both physical and emotional wellness.
🐶 Reduce stress: Petting a dog or cat may lower stress-related blood pressure responses by up to 50%
❤️ Support heart health: Pet owners are less likely to die from cardiac disease, including heart failure
🚶 Encourage activity: 54% of dog owners are more likely to meet recommended weekly exercise levels
😊 Boost mood: Time with pets can increase serotonin and dopamine while lowering anxiety
🐱 Long-term health benefits: A 20-year study found non-cat owners were 40% more likely to die of a heart attack
