Keeping Irvine Safe: Police Target Traffic and Noise Violations
On Thursday, Irvine PD conducted High-Visibility Enforcement in Woodbury, issuing over 50 citations for bike and cell phone violations. Later, they addressed city-wide complaints about loud exhausts and street racing, citing 19 drivers for noise and vehicle violations. These operations reflect the department's commitment to community safety.
Santa’s Magic Mailbox Returns to Irvine This Holiday Season
Santa’s magic mailbox is returning to Irvine this holiday season from November 18 to December 13, at Heritage, Northwood, and Turtle Rock Community Centers. Families can drop off letters to Santa, and each one will be delivered to his workshop. Responses will be ready for pick-up at the same location within about a week. To ensure Santa has time to reply, families are encouraged to submit letters early.

Brighten a Child’s Holiday Season – Join Irvine’s Toy Drive for Military Families
Support Irvine’s adopted 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines by donating new, unwrapped gifts for infants and children 12 and under! Drop off donations through December 14 at Irvine City Hall, the Irvine Police Department, or the Great Park Visitors Center. Your generosity will brighten the holidays for military families. Family Care Centers in Irvine, Fountain Valley, and Costa Mesa, CA, offer urgent care for first- and second-degree burns, with walk-in services available daily.
Burns from hot objects, liquids, or the sun can lead to serious complications if untreated.
First-degree burns typically heal within 3-6 days, while second-degree burns may take 7-21 days.
Urgent care includes wound cleaning, antibiotic treatment, pain management, and tetanus shots if needed.
Severe burns, including third-degree or burns on critical areas, require ER attention.

Kids (ages 8-12) can learn practical mountain biking skills at the IRC Kid’s Rider Skills Clinic on Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Irvine Open Space Preserve. The clinic covers bike safety, handling techniques, and riding over various terrains. Riders need a mountain bike (20" wheels or larger, multiple gears, hand brakes, knobby tires).
Get Creative! Make Friendsgiving Bracelets at Irvine’s Teen Craft Event

Hernandez’s Career-High 29 Points Propel UCI Women’s Basketball to Victory Over William & Mary
UC Irvine women's basketball defeated William & Mary 72-55, led by Hunter Hernandez's career-high 29 points in her third game back from injury. Hernandez hit four threes and was nearly perfect from the free-throw line (9-of-10). Olivia Williams added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Nikki Tom contributed across the board in her 100th career game. UCI shot 44% overall and 52% from deep, holding William & Mary to 35%. Despite a brief surge from the Tribe, UCI maintained control with strong runs in each quarter. The Anteaters, now 2-1, face Saint Mary’s on Nov. 16 at 2 PM.

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team won 3-1 against Santiago Canyon on sophomore day, boosting their playoff chances. The Lasers, now 7-11-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the OEC, dominated with a 14-7 shot advantage. Goals came from Armon Haghighat (15’), Marcio Costa (48’), and Finn Monk (89’). Josh Simonton made three saves, and seniors were honored post-match.

Northwood Girls Flag Football Outplays Trabuco Hills to Capture First CIF Championship
Northwood High’s girls flag football team defeated Trabuco Hills 31-17 to win the CIF Division 2 championship at Fred Kelly Stadium. The Timberwolves (19-6) relied on strong defense, with three interceptions from Rebekah Welch, Sailor Kensrue, and Natalie Keith, and an explosive offense led by Keith, who threw five touchdown passes. Elisa Kung and Hailey Brennan each caught two TDs. Trabuco Hills (17-4) closed the gap late, but Northwood’s defense held strong. The win marked Northwood’s ninth straight victory, capping a historic season in the inaugural CIF girls flag football playoffs.
