Local Farm Reopens in New Location to Grow Fresh Food for Local Families

Founders Farm has reopened at its new home in Southwinds Farm & Gardens, close to Second Harvest Food Bank. With help from community partners such as Bank of America and Harvesters, the farm is once again growing fresh fruits and vegetables for local families. Its raised beds use GardenSoxx, a sleeve-like planting system that supports efficient and sustainable growth.

Join the Team: Seasonal Hiring at Tanaka Farms This August

Tanaka Farms in Irvine is hiring seasonal staff for its 2025 Pumpkin Patch, offering positions such as cashier, games attendant, parking attendant, concession stand, admission, and greeter.

  • The job comes with a starting pay of $16.50 per hour, an employee discount, and no prior experience is required.

  • This fast-paced, fun seasonal opportunity is open to applicants 17 years and older.

Heritage Park Library Hosts Monthly Korean Book Club Gathering

On Saturday, Aug. 16, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., OC Parks will host Wilderness Access Day at Red Rock Wilderness, offering self-guided exploration of over 8 miles of new trails plus 3 miles in Loma Ridge Nature Preserve for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Trails vary from easy to moderate, with scenic overlooks of red rocks, Black Star Canyon, Irvine Lake, and more.

Pacific Symphony Honors Carl St.Clair’s 35-Year Legacy at SummerFest 2025

Pacific Symphony’s SummerFest 2025 at Great Park Live honored Carl St.Clair’s remarkable 35-year tenure as Music Director, celebrating his lasting impact on the Symphony and Orange County.

  • The evening featured GRAMMY® Award-winning pianist Michelle Cann performing Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto, followed by a rendition of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

  • The event marked St.Clair’s transition to Music Director Laureate.

UC Irvine Women’s Volleyball Adds Nine Newcomers for 2025 Season

UC Irvine women’s volleyball has added nine new players to its 2025 roster, including three transfers and six freshmen.

  • Head coach Ashlie Hain described the group as a balanced mix of experienced transfers and talented newcomers who complement the returning players.

  • The incoming class features standout high school athletes and collegiate transfers with notable achievements, such as league MVP honors, state championships, and NCAA tournament experience.

Shoplifting Duo Arrested Following Parking Lot Pursuit

On Friday, Irvine Police officers at the Spectrum recognized a man and woman previously involved in shoplifting at Lululemon.

  • When approached, the pair fled through the parking lot, jumping bushes and dodging vehicles before being tracked by security cameras.

  • Officers intercepted and arrested Diego Andres Zarra Mella, 35, and Luz Mundoz Reyes, 26, both from Los Angeles.

  • They were booked into Orange County Jail for organized retail theft, conspiracy, and shoplifting.
