Nike Teams Up with Irvine's Hyperice to Launch High-Tech Recovery Wearables
Nike and Hyperice have unveiled two new wearable, recovery-focused products: the Nike x Hyperice boot and Nike x Hyperice vest. The boot features Normatecโs air compression technology for muscle and tissue recovery in the foot and ankle, while the vest uses thermal sensors to maintain body temperature without ice or liquid. Both products can be controlled via a mobile app for session times, temperature, and compression settings. These innovations, debuting with athletes at the 2024 Olympics, will have pricing and commercial launch details announced soon.
City of Irvine Proposes New Freeway Off-Ramp to Divert Trash Trucks from Local Streets
Irvine officials plan to build a new road for trash trucks to reduce traffic in North Irvine, following the closure of the All American Asphalt plant. With the Olinda Alpha Landfill in Brea phasing out next year, more trucks will head to Bowerman and Prima Deshecha landfills. To mitigate the impact on local streets, a new off-ramp from the 133 Freeway to Bowerman Landfill is proposed. This aims to reduce noise, pollution, and extend pavement life on streets like Sand Canyon Avenue. Additionally, the County will grant the City an easement for a fire buffer at Gateway Village. In exchange, Irvine will support landfill operations legally and inform future developers and buyers. Funding for the project will come from waste disposal fees. The City Council approved continuing talks with the County and toll roads agency, emphasizing resident involvement in the process.
