New Late-Night Pho Spot in Irvine: Soup Shop Opens at Los Olivos Marketplace

Soup Shop has officially opened at Los Olivos Marketplace in Irvine, serving its popular Vietnamese comfort food known for slow-simmered pho broths, fresh herbs, and quality proteins like brisket, oxtail, shrimp, and filet mignon. Founded in 2019, the Southern California–based brand now has six locations and was recently ranked No. 12 on Yelp Elites’ list of the 50 favorite pho spots in the U.S. and Canada. Fan favorites include pho rib bones and garlic noodles. The Irvine location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

City of Irvine Launches WeRide Transportation Program for Adults 60+

The City of Irvine has officially launched WeRide, a new transportation program for adults ages 60 and older, offering same-day, flexible rides for short, local trips. Using City-owned vehicles and volunteer drivers, WeRide helps seniors get to errands, appointments, social outings, and community activities on their own schedule.

Residents can learn more and sign up by attending a WeRide Information Session at cityofirvine.org/yourirvine.

Irvine Ranch Water District is now accepting registrations for its first Community Tour of the year on Saturday, February 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event includes walking tours of the Michelson Water Recycling Plant and San Joaquin Marsh, informative presentations, a microscope demonstration, a Q&A session, and free lunch.

A Big Week for Pets: 13 Adopted, 4 Reunited in Irvine

Between January 26 and February 1, the Irvine Animal Care Center celebrated 13 adoptions, including 7 dogs, 4 cats, 1 hamster, and 1 rabbit, all finding loving new homes. During the same week, 3 dogs and 1 cat were successfully reunited with their owners.

UCI Women's Water Polo Beats UC San Diego 14–9

UC Irvine women’s water polo defeated host UC San Diego 14–9 to finish seventh at the Triton Invitational powered by junior Lauren Hett’s five goals. The Anteaters head to Los Angeles next to face LMU.

Crean Lutheran Girls Water Polo Wins Freeway League Title, Finishes Undefeated

Crean Lutheran High School’s Girls Water Polo team claimed the Freeway League championship after a 9–6 victory over La Habra, finishing the season undefeated in league play. The Saints are now back-to-back league champions, ranked No. 1 in Division 3, and will host Citrus Valley on Thursday, February 5, as they continue their playoff run.

Three Arrested for Shoplifting at Irvine Sephora

Irvine Police arrested three women from Santa Ana after responding to a shoplifting call at Sephora, where suspects were reported hiding makeup in their bags. Officers quickly located the individuals nearby, recovered the stolen items, and booked the women—ages 21, 25, and 47—for shoplifting.
