Wildfire Smoke: Tips to Protect Your Health Amid Poor Air Quality

As wildfires rage in Los Angeles, air quality has dropped to dangerous levels, posing serious health risks. UCI Health pulmonary and critical care expert, Dr. Richard Lee Dr. Lee, who focuses on treating severe respiratory conditions and leads the ICU at UCI Medical Center, emphasizes the importance of avoiding smoke exposure, particularly for vulnerable groups such as:
those with asthma, COPD, diabetes, and vascular disease, as well as the elderly and children.
If outdoor activities are unavoidable, he recommends wearing an N95 mask or higher and keeping an eye on the air quality index for safe conditions.
