The Turtle Rock French Hill Loop is a 4.1-mile, moderately challenging hiking and running trail in Irvine. It takes roughly 2 hours to complete and is quite popular, so expect company. The trail has varied terrain, including steep dirt paths and flat sidewalks, with great hill views and wildflowers in spring/early summer. Offline maps are advised for navigation.

  • - Difficulty: Moderately challenging

  • - Average Completion Time: 2 hours and 2 minutes

Unlock the Great Outdoors: Bommer Canyon's Upcoming Activities and Hikes

Bommer Canyon offers a variety of outdoor activities organized by numerous groups and volunteers, with most programs being free of charge. Pre-registration is required for events led by IRC-Certified Volunteers, closing at 4 p.m. the day before the event. Minors must be accompanied by an adult, and for any assistance, reach out via email to [email protected].

  • November 13th: Challenging 11-mile Super Trek

  • November 14th: 9-mile hike through Bommer and Shady Canyons

  • November 15th: Mid-week 10-12 mile hike

  • November 17th: Plant identification hike with a focus on local flora

UC Irvine Men's Water Polo Clinch 16-5 Win Over Concordia on Senior Day

UC Irvine's Anteaters celebrated senior day with a decisive 16-5 victory over Concordia University Irvine. Seniors Baxter, Liechty, Patist, Sauer, Selby, and Worland were recognized for their contributions. Sauer and Otta each scored three goals, contributing to the team's high shooting accuracy. Selby made a personal record of 17 saves as goalkeeper. The Anteaters dominated early and maintained a strong lead throughout the game, with contributions from multiple players. They are set to face Pepperdine in their season finale.

UC Irvine Women's Volleyball: Stellar Hitting Leads to Sweep Against Fullerton

UC Irvine achieved a .380 hitting percentage, their season's best, in a straight-set win (25-18, 25-15, 25-22) against Cal State Fullerton. Hunter Riedl led the team with 11 kills. The team matched their season-high with 10 blocks, with Isabella Scarlett contributing a career-high seven. UCI showed strong offensive and defensive plays, with notable performances from Emma Napoleon, Marianna Bertolone, and Ella Gardiner. The Titans struggled, hitting .182. UCI's next match is a sold-out home game against Hawaii, where they will honor the 2003 NCAA Championship team and graduating seniors.

Irvine Valley's Men's Soccer Clings to Top Eight with Dramatic Late Equalizer

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team secured a 1-1 tie with Saddleback, maintaining their second place in the Orange Empire Conference and staying in the top eight for the California Community College Athletic Association Playoffs in Southern California. Despite Saddleback's early lead with a penalty kick, Irvine Valley tied the game with a late goal by Grant Miller, assisted by Ivan Lopez. Miller's goal marked his 15th of the season, and Lopez's assist was his 16th, leading the conference. Irvine Valley's goalie, Josh Simonton, had a quiet game with no saves required. The team looks forward to their final regular season match against Cypress, who recently defeated the top team, Fullerton. Playoff pairings are expected to be announced soon.

Beckman High School's football team won against Capo Valley Christian with a score of 14-9 and will now play a home game against West Covina in the CIF Division 10 quarterfinals. Despite challenges, Beckman displayed great composure and executed crucial plays, including a go-ahead touchdown just before halftime. The defense was particularly strong, holding off one of the top passing attacks and securing key turnovers. Coach Giuliano highlighted the team's growth and is preparing them for a different challenge against the physical, run-heavy style of West Covina.
