Study Finds Acupuncture May Help Reduce Chronic Back Pain

Chronic lower back pain can make everyday activities challenging for older adults, but research suggests acupuncture may offer another way to manage discomfort and improve quality of life. A study involving 800 participants found that acupuncture may help relieve chronic lower back pain, with benefits lasting up to 12 months after approximately three months of weekly treatments. Dr. Gary Deng, a UCI Health expert, noted that the study’s large size and rigorous design strengthen confidence in its findings. Although he was not involved in the research, Deng highlighted acupuncture as a potential additional treatment option, particularly for patients seeking alternatives to long-term pain medication use, which can cause side effects.

Keep It Cute and Comfy: Pet-Friendly Alternatives to Costumes

Dressing up furry friends for Halloween can be lots of fun, but not every pet enjoys wearing a costume. Some outfits may feel uncomfortable, restrict movement, or block their vision and hearing. Loose costumes and dangling accessories can also create tripping or choking hazards. To help keep pets happy, safe, and comfortable, consider a festive collar, harness, or bandana instead.
