Local Scam Artist Busted: Irvine Police Nabs Fraudulent Property Manager - Over $200,000 Swindled
Irvine Police arrested 29-year-old Surong Li for grand theft, fake ID possession, and theft by false pretense, as she posed as a property manager to scam individuals in home lease agreements. Some rental properties were fake, while others saw no transfer of funds to the actual property owners, totaling a loss of over $200,000 to victims. Police urge awareness of such scams and request other victims to report to [email protected].
To avoid rental scams:
1. Employ reputable real estate agents.
2. Request property tours.
3. Speak to property owners directly.
4. Be wary of pressure to lease immediately, cash payments, absence of credit checks, or payments directed to individuals other than the homeowner/property manager.

Avoid Delays: Alternate Routes Suggested Amidst Irvine Center Drive Upgrades
The ongoing road rehabilitation on Irvine Center Drive is progressing as planned, with completion expected by December. Post leveling, a 2.5-inch rubberized asphalt layer will be added for a smoother road, along with new striping for better safety and visibility. Despite efforts to maintain traffic flow, some delays are anticipated, so alternative routes are suggested. More details can be found on the Capital Improvement Program map linked below.
