Irvine Senior Services is seeking volunteers for their programs, especially at the Rose Garden Café in the Lakeview Senior Center to serve lunch and for the Meals-on-Wheels program to deliver meals to homebound seniors.

Sameen Andar Crowned Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Sameen Andar from UC Irvine was named the Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. She achieved a season-best time of 20:06.3 at the Bronco Invitational, ranking her sixth out of 187 participants. This was her second top-six finish this season and her fifth top-10 career finish. This marks Andar's first weekly award, with teammate Anna Vogtmann previously honored on Sept. 19.

Irvine Valley Men's Soccer Triumphs with 3-0 Win Over Chargers

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team, ranked No. 11, secured a 3-0 win over the Chargers in the Orange Empire Conference. Freshman Parsa Ghostabshi scored two goals, and Aleksey Dykhno added another with a scorpion kick. This marked the Lasers' 11th consecutive unbeaten game, with their record now at 8-2-4 overall and 3-0-4 in the conference. Ghostabshi's goals were assisted by Yasser Mallisho and Ivan Lopez, while Kleber Celis assisted Dykhno's goal. Goalkeeper Christopher Arzate ensured a shutout with three saves. The team faces Golden West in their next match.
