Several citations have been issued, emphasizing that helmets on handlebars won’t protect riders. November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, highlighting the benefits of welcoming an older pet into your home. Many senior pets are housetrained, calm, and easygoing, and some shelters offer adoption discounts. UCI Women's Volleyball Block and Smash Their Way Past CSUN for Third Straight Win
UC Irvine’s Kendra MacDonald led the Anteaters with a career-high 20 kills, as they defeated CSUN 3-1 with scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-10, and 25-19. Setter Nicole Feliciano orchestrated a season-high team hitting percentage of .426, marking the sixth-best in the Big West this season. Hunter Riedl contributed significantly with a .481 hitting percentage, four block assists, and four digs. The Anteaters now stand at 14-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play, with a 7-2 block advantage, holding CSUN to a .197 hitting percentage. UCI prepares to host UC San Diego and Long Beach State at the Bren Events Center on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9.

Irvine Valley Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Santa Ana 3-0, Advances to 8-7-1 Record
Irvine Valley women’s soccer delivered a strong performance last Tuesday, defeating Santa Ana 3-0 and advancing to an 8-7-1 record. The Lasers dominated the first half, with goals from sophomore Jordan Madison in the 36th and 42nd minutes, assisted by freshman Megan Beal, and another by freshman Izzy Rodrigues just before halftime from a pass by Kuuipo Laumatia. Sophomore goalie Sydney Salamoff secured her sixth shutout with two saves. Irvine Valley’s defense held strong in the second half.

University Football Triumphs Over Katella, 35-14, in Season Finale Led by Tribble and Oldham
University’s football team, led by seniors Justin Tribble and Carl Oldham, secured a 35-14 win over Katella in their Omicron League finale at Glover Stadium. Tribble threw for 201 yards and four touchdowns, with Oldham catching three of those for 142 yards. Jake Rabold also contributed a 26-yard touchdown, and Damari Carter rushed for 100 yards. Despite Katella out-gaining University 313 yards to 292 and achieving more first downs, two turnovers hurt their efforts. One crucial turnover, an 18-yard scoop and score by Adham Osman just before halftime, extended University’s lead to 28-6. Katella’s offense was highlighted by Isaac Sanchez with 191 all-purpose yards and Adam Haqi’s 118 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Irvine Police Arrest Two Suspects in County-Wide EBT Theft Ring During Surveillance Operation
Irvine's Investigations Bureau has been tracking a county-wide fraud scheme where thieves swiftly withdraw EBT funds after they're deposited into victims' accounts. During a recent surveillance operation, detectives observed two men, Marius Gafei, 41, and Valentin Velicu, 49, making multiple ATM withdrawals near Culver and Walnut. Upon contact, they were found with a large amount of cash and evidence of similar withdrawals in another city. Both were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on grand theft and fraud charges. The investigation is ongoing.
