UC Irvine Achieves Highest-Ever Ranking: No. 32 in Nation, No. 9 Among Public Universities

UC Irvine reached its highest-ever national ranking — No. 32 among all U.S. universities and No. 9 among public universities — in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025–26 “Best Colleges” list. 🎓 This marks 11 straight years in the top 10 for public universities.

Join the Movement: Volunteer for Love Irvine’s Citywide Serve Day on Nov 8

💛 Love Irvine’s 5th annual Citywide Serve Day happens Nov. 8, bringing residents together for a day of community service.

  • Last year: 650 volunteers, 28 projects — from sorting food to making rice sock warmers for shelter animals.

  • This year: Expecting 700+ volunteers and 35+ projects, many kid-friendly to help families serve together.

  • 🕢 Kickoff: 7:30 a.m. at Woodbridge Village Center

  • 🙌 Volunteer sign-up: LoveIrvine.org

UC Irvine Announces December 2025 Opening of New 350,000-Square-Foot Hospital Featuring 24-Hour ER and 144 Beds

🏥 UCI Health – Irvine is set to open December 2025, marking a new era of advanced, compassionate care rooted in innovation and wellness. The seven-story, 350,000 sq. ft. hospital will feature 144 beds, a 24-hour emergency department, 10 advanced operating suites, interventional radiology, a cardiac cath lab, pharmacy, blood bank, and diagnostic lab.

Located alongside the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Ambulatory Care building, and Joe C. Wen & Family Center for Advanced Care, the new facility unites UC Irvine’s world-class physicians, nurses, and researchers — all committed to improving lives in our community and beyond.

UCI Professor’s “Memory Air” Named One of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2025

UC Irvine’s Michael Leon, emeritus professor of neurobiology and behavior, developed Memory Air — an over-the-counter device that releases 40 scents overnight to enhance memory. His research shows that stimulating the brain’s smell center during sleep can significantly boost memory consolidation. Strong Second Half Push Can’t Overcome Early Deficit in UC Irvine’s 9–8 Loss to Princeton

No. 16 UC Irvine men’s water polo fell 9–8 to No. 15 Princeton in a close matchup Wednesday night at Anteater Aquatics Complex. After Princeton’s early 5–1 lead and first-quarter shutout, the ‘Eaters battled back with a strong third (4–3) and fourth quarter (3–1) surge, cutting the deficit to one but ultimately coming up short.
