UCI in Talks to Take Over Orange County Museum of Art

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is in discussions to potentially take over the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA), following the announcement that OCMA director Heidi Zuckerman will step down at the end of her contract in December.
UCI officials describe the move as a potential opportunity to strengthen cultural and educational initiatives, while OCMA leadership sees it as a step toward long-term stability and expanded impact.
If an agreement is reached, it will be reviewed by the UC Board of Regents this fall.
The merger would provide UCI with a permanent home for its Langson Institute and Museum of California Art, eliminating the need for new construction.
This development follows a broader trend of university-museum partnerships in the region, such as those between USC and the Pacific Asia Museum and UCLA and the Hammer Museum.
We will resume with the high school music calendar events when the schedule is available for the fall semester.

A man’s locked mountain bike was stolen outside the Target on Barranca, but thanks to a hidden AirTag, Irvine police were able to track it near Creekside High. Officers located and arrested 35-year-old Christopher Martin Benson of Orange, who is on probation, for grand theft. The bike was returned to its owner. Police encourage residents to use tracking devices and register bikes through Project 529 to aid in recovery.
