Irvine Animal Care Center Shares Kitten Season Tips for Residents

The Irvine Animal Care Center is reminding residents to take a careful and gentle approach during kitten season. While it may be tempting to immediately rescue kittens found alone, their mother is often nearby and still caring for them. Giving her space and time to return is often the best way to help.
• Observe from a distance for up to 24 hours before stepping in
• Mother cats are often nearby, hunting or taking a short break
• Avoid getting too close, as too much activity can scare the mother away
• If the kittens appear sick, injured, or in distress, contact Irvine Animal Services right away
• If the mother does not return after 24 hours, call Irvine Animal Services at 949-724-7092
