The Canopy: New Retail Center Set to Transform Great Park by 2026

A new retail center called The Canopy is set to open at the Great Park in 2026, offering 80,000 square feet of amenities including a grocery store, restaurants, and shops. This development, located at Bosque and Great Park Boulevard, aims to create a community hub with a blend of local, regional, and national tenants. The project, in partnership with Almquist, who has developed similar markets, will also retrofit Hangar 244 into a food hall linked by a retail promenade. Additionally, the first phase of the Cultural Terrace development will introduce cultural institutions like the Orange County Music & Dance, and the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum. Future developments, set for completion between 2027 and 2029, include a 10,000-seat amphitheater, lakes, recreational facilities, Veterans Memorial Park, botanical gardens, and a public library. When complete, the 1,300-acre Great Park will surpass the size of both San Diego's Balboa Park and New York City's Central Park.

Irvine’s Great Park to Feature WWII Fighter Planes in New Aviation Museum

In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, military aircraft, including the renowned Corsair, will return to the Great Park. The Corsair, a top World War II fighter, is one of 40 aircraft to be displayed at the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, the only museum dedicated to U.S. Marine Corps aviation, opening at the Cultural Terrace in 2026. This museum honors the bravery and sacrifices of military heroes, especially those from D-Day. For more information, visit flyingleathernecks.org and greatparkframework.org.

Managing Puppy Chewing: Tips and Tricks to Protect Your Belongings

Puppy chewing is a natural behavior, especially during teething, but it can be frustrating when it damages your belongings.

  • To manage this, puppy-proof your home by removing tempting items like shoes, plants, and electrical cords.

  • Use child locks or baby gates to secure hazardous areas.

  • Provide various chew toys with different textures and shapes, and consider food-stuffed or chilled teething toys for extra stimulation.

  • When your puppy chews on something off-limits, trade it for an appropriate toy and offer a treat.

  • If you suspect separation anxiety or other behavioral issues, seek professional help. With patience and the right tools, you can guide your puppy's chewing habits and raise a well-behaved dog.
