Irvine Police Step Up E-Bike Safety Enforcement After Collision

Officers issued multiple citations to underage riders for not wearing helmets properly and provided safety education on maintaining safe speeds and avoiding unsafe crosswalk entries.
Irvine Council Unanimously Backs Expansion of Rooftop Solar Program
At the October 22nd City Council meeting, Vice Mayor Larry Agran secured unanimous support to explore expanding Irvine’s rooftop solar program. Since 2022, the Solarize Irvine and One Irvine initiatives have enabled 245 solar installations and 44 battery storage units, offering rebates, no-interest loans, and group discounts.
Residents like Mike Belfield praised the programs for cutting costs and emissions, while UCI Professor Kev Abazajian highlighted a potential $10 billion in homeowner savings over 25 years. Agran called for a "dramatically scaled-up" effort, prompting the Council to direct staff to study expansion options and report back after the November election.
