Paws Off the Tinsel! Holiday Safety Tips for Your Furry Friends
The holiday season brings festive fun but poses risks for pets, with veterinary emergencies often peaking from November to January.
Here are some holiday pet safety tips:
Supervise Pets: Always know where your pets are and monitor their behavior.
Dispose of Wrapping Materials: Quickly collect and discard ribbons, paper, and tape after presents are opened.
Secure Food: Keep holiday treats out of reach and store leftovers in sturdy, resealable containers.
Use Pet-Friendly Plants: Opt for non-toxic plants instead of poinsettias or mistletoe.
Educate Family and Guests: Inform everyone in your home about potential pet hazards.
Keep Decorations Out of Reach: Hang tinsel, ornaments, and lights where pets canโt access them.
Know Emergency Contacts: Save the nearest emergency animal hospital's contact information.
Be Vigilant with Toys: Ensure children's toys and small items are kept away from pets.
Watch for Signs of Trouble: Seek veterinary help immediately if your pet shows unusual symptoms or ingests something harmful.
