Drive Safely: How California's 'Move Over' Law Protects Us All

California's "Move Over" law mandates drivers to shift lanes or slow down for vehicles with flashing lights, including Caltrans, law enforcement, and tow trucks. National Move Over Day raises awareness of this law to prevent costly and fatal accidents. It's crucial for all drivers to stay vigilant and collectively promote safety to ensure everyone's safe return home.

Top Insects to Welcome in Your Garden This Fall โ And a Few You Should Shoo Away

During the festive season, while yards are adorned with spooky decorations, not all insects in your garden are harmful. Beneficial critters like ladybug and green lacewing larvae, soldier beetles, hoverflies, dragonflies, and braconid wasps help protect plants by feeding on pests. However, be cautious with praying mantises, assassin bugs, certain spiders, and ground beetles as they can also harm beneficial insects. Avoid garden pests such as mites, scale, thrips, earwigs, aphids, and snails.

Explore the Natural Splendor of Buck Gully Reserve: A Coastal Canyon Gem within Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks

Buck Gully Reserve, a 300-acre coastal canyon within the 40,000-acre Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, offers stunning ocean views and diverse habitats in Newport Beach. Managed by Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) in partnership with the city, it features a year-round stream, riparian and coastal sage scrub habitats, and nearly five miles of trails. In 2012 and 2020, the trail system was enhanced and repaired. The IRC and city also organize habitat restoration events, with upcoming opportunities on October 27 and November 17. For more activities and volunteer options, visit LetsGoOutside.org and IRConservancy.org, or follow the Landmarks on social media.
