Irvine PD Cracks Down on E-Bike Safety After Recent Collisions, 38 Citations Issued at Great Park
![]() | ![]() |
In response to recent injury-related e-bike collisions, Irvine PD conducted a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation at Great Park, issuing 38 citations and interacting with numerous riders. Most violations were for riding without a helmet, which is mandatory for those under 18 and for anyone riding a Class-3 e-bike. Riders receiving citations can attend a bike safety course with their parents instead of paying fines. Irvine PD will continue strict enforcement on roads, bike paths, and trails to address ongoing community concerns about e-bike safety.
