Irvine Police Issue 32 Citations During High Visibility Traffic Operation

On Thursday, Irvine Police Traffic Bureau carried out a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operation in the southern part of the city, focusing on road safety. Officers issued 32 citations for violations including distracted driving and disregarding “no right turn on red” signs.

Join the After Work Fitness Hike Every Monday on Hicks Haul Road

Join the After Work Fitness Hike every Monday evening on the paved Hicks Haul Road in the Irvine Open Space Preserve. The next hike is on April 28, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This 3.5-mile roundtrip hike climbs Loma Ridge and offers scenic sunset views over Orange County. It's a level 3 difficulty fitness hike at your own pace (walk, jog, or run), typically completed in about an hour.

19 Pets Adopted, Several Reunited in Irvine This Week

Between April 14–20, a total of 19 pets found loving homes—7 dogs (Candy, Diesel, Lola, Maze, Ollie, Pixel, Rudy) and 12 cats (Apai, Button, Furby, Hello Kitty, Huey, Kiki, Kuromi, Lala, Melody, Mimi, Piccolo, Scott). Additionally, 1 dog (Pupsy) and 1 tortoise were sent to rescue, while 3 dogs and 1 cat were reunited with their owners.

UC Irvine Men’s Volleyball Rallies Past CSUN in Five-Set Victory

No. 4 UC Irvine men’s volleyball rallied to defeat No. 9 CSUN in five sets (25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13) in their regular season finale. Senior Hilir Henno led with a season-high 26 kills, hitting .417 overall and delivering in clutch moments, especially in the final two sets. Tim Ennis added a career-high 10 kills off the bench, and William D'Arcy and Micah Goss provided strong support at the net. UCI hit .402 and out-blocked CSUN 10.5 to 7.5. The win improved UCI’s record to 20-6 (6-4 Big West) and extended their winning streak to five. As the No. 3 seed, UCI will face CSUN again in the Big West Tournament quarterfinals on April 24 at 10:00 p.m.

Irvine Valley Men’s Tennis Advances to State Final After Upset Win Over Riverside

The Irvine Valley College men's tennis team is heading to the 3C2A state championship after a strong 5-2 upset over No. 3 Riverside in the SoCal regional final. Despite losing to Riverside twice during conference play, IVC—seeded No. 4—secured all three doubles matches and two key singles wins, including a clincher by Nick Grove. The Lasers, now 12-2, will face Foothill College in the title match on April 23 at Ventura College. IVC last won the state title in 2017.

Northwood’s Nina Elias Commits to Chapman University for Water Polo

Northwood High School water polo captain Nina Elias has committed to play at Chapman University. Despite only starting the sport a few years ago, Elias quickly rose to become a key player, serving three years on varsity and earning first team All-CIF and second team all-Pacific Coast League honors as a junior. Though her senior season was limited due to injury, her leadership and performance left a strong impact. Coach Kim-E praised her growth, dedication, and character, noting Chapman is fortunate to have her.

Stolen Bike Recovered, Suspect Arrested with Narcotics in Irvine

Irvine Police’s Directed Enforcement Team stopped a man on a bike near Jamboree and Barranca and found syringes loaded with narcotics. Further investigation revealed the bike was reported stolen last year in Irvine. The bike was returned to its rightful owner, and the suspect was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail.
