Flying Leathernecks Museum to Open in 2026 at Great Park, Honoring Vietnam-Era Marine Aviation
![]() | ![]() |
Irvine recognizes the service and sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans, many of whom have lived in the community. The former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station—now Great Park—played a key role during the war as a major Marine aviation base. In 2026, the Flying Leathernecks Aviation Museum will open at Great Park, preserving the legacy of Marine Corps aviators and featuring aircraft from the Vietnam era, including the A-4 Skyhawk, UH-1N Huey, CH-46 Sea Knight, F-4 Phantom II, and AH-1J Sea Cobra.

Better Sleep: UCI Doctor Offers Tips on Managing Meals, Medications, and Bedtime Habits

Sleep disturbances are often heightened in the evening when daily activities slow down, and habits like late-night scrolling or checking emails can worsen anxiety. According to Dr. KyoungBin K. Im, a board-certified psychiatrist and sleep medicine specialist at UCI Health, both meal timing and medications significantly impact sleep quality. For example, eating your last meal too early in the day, such as with intermittent fasting, may cause you to wake during the night. Similarly, taking stimulating medications, like those prescribed for ADHD, later in the day can interfere with falling asleep—much like caffeine.
Tips for better sleep include:
Avoid screen time and work-related tasks before bed
Eat your final meal at a time that aligns with your natural sleep schedule
Take stimulating medications earlier in the day when possible
For expert guidance, you can contact UCI Health Sleep Medicine Services at 714-509-2230 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Im.

Woodbridge Baseball Edges Foothill 3-2, Advances in Ryan Lemmon Invitational

Woodbridge High edged out Foothill 3-2 in a tight game at the Ryan Lemmon Invitational, holding off a late seventh-inning rally. Woodbridge led 3-0 thanks to solid pitching from Vincent DeMarco (4 scoreless innings, 7 Ks) and key hits, including his RBI triple. Foothill narrowed the gap with a pair of runs in the final inning, but Woodbridge shortstop Nolan Stottlemyer made a heads-up play to tag out a runner at second and seal the win. With a 2-0 tournament record, Woodbridge remains in contention for the championship game.
