Beckman High Students Collaborate with Local Shelters to Provide Free Music Lessons

Beckman High School students Bethany Cheung, Sophie Tsai, Andrea Lin, and Shannon Tsai have established Project Con Brio, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free piano lessons for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn music.
In partnership with local shelters, their mission is to make music education more accessible while nurturing creativity, confidence, and independence.
With a thoughtful blend of classical training and engaging activities such as Pictionary and mini paper basketball, these young musicians are helping underprivileged youth in Irvine experience the joy and benefits of music.

Stay Cool, Stay Safe: First Aid for Heat Illness

As summer temperatures rise, heat-related illnesses can pose serious risks for all ages, especially children and the elderly. If someone shows signs of heat distress, here are the key first aid steps:
Move them to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned place.
Lay them down and slightly elevate their feet.
Remove tight or heavy clothing.
Offer cold water, electrolyte drinks, or non-caffeinated/nonalcoholic fluids.
Apply ice or cold wet towels to the head, neck, trunk, armpits, and groin.
Use fans to cool them.
Never leave them alone.
When in doubt, call 911.
