Health Warning: Tustin Hangar Fire Smoke Advisory Issued for Orange County Residents

The fire at Tustin's former Marine Corps Air Station has led to a Smoke Advisory in Orange County due to potential health risks from smoke and ash. Residents, especially those with pre-existing conditions, the elderly, and children, are advised to stay indoors, avoid ash contact, and limit outdoor activities. Precautions include closing windows and doors, using air purifiers instead of swamp coolers, and wearing N95 masks if outside. People experiencing symptoms like chest pain or shortness of breath should seek medical help. For safety tips and air quality updates, visit the AQMD website.

Irvine City Council to Debate Accelerated Ban on Gas-Powered Garden Equipment; Public Input Sought

Starting January 1, 2024, California will ban sales of new gas-powered garden tools like leaf blowers and mowers. Irvine aims to ban using these tools from July 1, 2024, for leaf blowers, and from January 1, 2025, for other equipment. The city seeks feedback, especially from landscaping businesses on transitioning to electric tools, before the council considers this in November 2023.
