Irvine Police Arrest Man in Stolen Van, Seize Large Quantity of Suspected Meth

A license plate reader alerted an Irvine officer on Tuesday to a stolen rental van in a shopping center parking lot. As the officer awaited backup, the van’s driver, David Totolhuamenel, 27, exited the vehicle and was detained. Totolhuamenel claimed he had “borrowed” the van from a friend and intended to return it, but records showed it was reported stolen on October 19.
