Simple Grooming Tips to Help Pets Stay Comfortable This Summer
![]() | ![]() |
Here are some helpful grooming tips to keep pets comfortable, healthy, and looking their best as the weather warms up. Regular grooming can help reduce shedding, prevent tangles, and give pet owners a chance to spot skin irritation or unusual bumps early.
Brush pets regularly to reduce shedding, hairballs, and tangles.
Use the right grooming tools based on your petโs coat type.
Stiff-bristle brushes work best for short-haired pets.
Long-toothed metal combs or brushes are better for medium- to long-haired coat
Be gentle when removing mats or tangles to avoid hurting the skin.
Bathe pets with an unscented, hypoallergenic shampoo recommended by a veterinarian.
Long-haired pets may benefit from light summer trims, but enough fur should remain to protect against sunburn.
Severe mats or irritated skin should be checked by a groomer or veterinarian.
