Irvine City Council Candidates Debate Housing and Green Power in First District Election Forum

Irvine city council candidates participated in a forum hosted by Irvine Watchdog, discussing key issues like the housing crisis and the future of the Orange County Power Authority (OCPA). The forum highlighted Irvine’s switch to district elections, where residents vote only for candidates in their district, while the mayor remains an at-large election. A major divide among candidates centered on whether to stay in the OCPA, which has faced scrutiny over mismanagement. Housing was another hot topic, with debates on how to address the city’s housing goals. Candidates for mayor and various city council districts shared differing views on development, sustainability, and public transit expansion.
Four Firefighters Still Hospitalized After Fiery Crash on Irvine Freeway

Four firefighters remain under medical care following a rollover crash involving a fire truck on the 241 Freeway in Irvine last month. The crash occurred as eight firefighters were returning from a 12-hour shift battling the Airport Fire. A vehicle swerved to avoid a ladder, causing the fire truck to hit the guardrail and overturn multiple times. All eight firefighters were injured, with two still hospitalized and two in rehabilitation facilities. One of the injured, Andrew Brown, was recently transferred to Colorado for further recovery after a large send-off from fellow firefighters.

FCCMG offers convenient walk-in earwax removal services across three urgent care locations in Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Fountain Valley, available seven days a week.
Earwax buildup, while protective, can cause blockages leading to muffled hearing, pain, and other symptoms like dizziness or ringing in the ears.
FCCMG uses safe methods such as suction, irrigation, and prescription ear drops for treatment.
Children may be more prone to excessive earwax due to conditions like narrow ear canals or ear infections.
Urgent care visits are recommended if severe symptoms occur, and home remedies, like OTC drops or warm water flushing, can help with mild cases.

Northwood Secures Dennis Toohey Fence Post Trophy with Undefeated Record Against Irvine Rivals

Northwood High School has claimed the Dennis Toohey Fence Post Trophy after securing non-league victories against Irvine, Woodbridge, and Portola, making them the top Irvine team this season with a 5-0 record. The trophy, which honors Irvine's ranch heritage and is named after a former youth football coach, will be displayed at Northwood. Despite Beckman's strong 5-0 record, they did not play enough Irvine teams to challenge Northwood for the trophy. The criteria for winning the trophy changed due to league realignments, with the team having the most wins against Irvine schools being declared the winner. Northwood opens Foxtrot League play against Laguna Beach.
