Join the City of Irvine for a fun and free concert on August 9 featuring DW3, bringing R&B, Soul, and Old-School Funk to the stage. The family-friendly event kicks off at 5:30 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served, so don’t forget to bring your low-back chairs or blankets.
Ride Smart: Irvine Police to Host E-Bike Training on August 13

The Irvine Police Department will host its first hands-on e-bike training on Wednesday, August 13, at Rancho San Joaquin Middle School.
The two-hour session includes a safety presentation and a riding course simulating real-life scenarios.
Students must bring their own e-bike, helmet, and a parent or guardian.

Experience the bold flavors of Chinese cuisine at Irvine’s Cultural Cooking Class with Chef Paul Huang on Friday, August 29, from 3–4:30 p.m. at Lakeview Senior Center.
Learn to make easy-to-cook dishes like Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, and Tomato Shrimp, while gaining tips on cooking techniques and food safety.
Participants will enjoy a live demonstration, take home recipes, and leave with the skills to recreate these dishes with confidence.

Sweet & Snuggly: Meet Butter the Guinea Pig

Butter, a sweet and social guinea pig at the Irvine Animal Care Center, is looking for a forever home. Gentle, affectionate, and full of charm, he loves fresh veggies and snuggles.
Visit between noon and 5 p.m., to meet Butter and other adoptable pets.
As part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, adoption fees for guinea pigs are waived.

UCI Women’s Soccer Captain Perez Named to 2025 Preseason All-Big West Team

Fifth-year defender and team captain Mihaela Perez has been named to the 2025 Preseason All-Big West Team, as voted by conference coaches. Perez, who has played 59 matches for UC Irvine with multiple clean sheets and eight career points, earned her first goal last season and recently competed with the Guamanian National Team in Asian Cup qualifiers. .

Nation’s Top Junior Swimmers Shine at U.S. Junior Nationals in Irvine

2025 U.S. Junior Nationals brought some of the nation’s fastest 18U swimmers to Irvine’s Woollett Aquatics Center (July 30–Aug. 3), delivering standout performances and record-breaking swims.
Boys:
Sean Green set meet records in the 800m and 1500m freestyle
Yi Zheng climbed to #7 all-time in the 400 IM (15–16)
Charlie Cancelmo moved into the top 10 all-time in both the 100m and 200m fly (15–16)
Ian Call swam the #2 all-time 100m breaststroke (15–16)
Girls:
Emerson Callis dropped nearly seven seconds to rank #33 all-time in the 400 IM (17–18)
Addie Robillard posted a 200m breaststroke time that would place 5th at Nationals
Julie Mishler’s 50m free time would place 11th at Nationals
Gabi Brito entered the top 40 all-time in the 100m free and 100m fly (15–16).
Three National Age Group relay records also fell during the meet.

Community Tips Lead to Arrest in Irvine Grand Theft Case

Irvine Police announced that, following community tips from a #WANTEDWEDNESDAY post, investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old Sabrina Fan of Costa Mesa. She was located and arrested for grand theft.
