Senior Cat Nutrition: Simple Diet Changes That Support Healthy Aging

As cats reach their senior years, their nutritional needs often change, making regular monitoring and personalized care more important than ever. Small adjustments to diet and daily routines can help support overall wellness, maintain quality of life, and address age-related health concerns before they become more serious.
Tips for Feeding a Senior Cat
Prioritize high-quality protein unless your veterinarian recommends otherwise.
Increase hydration with wet food, water fountains, or multiple water stations.
Monitor weight closely and report unexplained changes to your vet.
Consider omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants for joint, brain, and overall health support.
Schedule wellness exams and lab screenings twice yearly to catch kidney or thyroid issues early.
Transition to new foods gradually over 7–10 days if dietary changes are recommended.
