Pediatric vehicular heatstroke is a leading cause of non-crash deaths for children under 14. Make it a habit to check the back seat every time you exit and keep keys out of reach. For more information, visit here.

UCI Athletes Shine at 2024 Paris Olympics with Gold and Bronze Wins
Former UC Irvine men's volleyball players Kevin Tillie and David Smith made headlines at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Tillie winning gold for France and Smith earning bronze for the USA. UCI was one of 49 schools to secure two or more medals and one of only two non-football Division I schools in that group. The Big West conference ranked sixth in total medals, with UCI being the only school in the conference to win gold. In women's water polo, Tara Prentice narrowly missed a medal after two heartbreaking losses. Current UCI student-athlete Hilir Henno also made an appearance, playing a ceremonial role in the games. Overall, UCI athletes have a historic tally of eight gold, 16 silver, and three bronze medals across all-time Olympic participation.
